Old School Food Pantry

After determining the widespread food insecurity facing the River Valley region, River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition (RVHCC) set a path to open a food pantry to address this pressing problem. Friends of the River Valley (FRV) was pleased to partner with RVHCC and provide needed financial support to The Old School Food Pantry (OSFP) to cover its rental expenses and help purchase food from its suppliers. The OSFP resides at the St. John’s School on Franklin Street and expects to serve over 100 families in the community. In addition to providing financial assistance, FRV also helped RVHCC make connections with other funding sources, including the Maine Community Foundation and the Margaret Burnham Charitable Foundation. FRV looks forward to its continuing relationship with RVHCC to ensure the OSFP becomes a sustainable resource for the community.
